Dear Blooming Glen Friends,
This week, Debbie and I hit the road a bit. I leave for Hesston College on Thursday for the spring meeting of the board of directors, and Debbie is off to Portland, Oregon, for a few days with our twin grandsons, Jamie, and Gabe. I come back to Blooming Glen late Saturday night, and I leave again Tuesday afternoon for Southern California, where I will catch up with Debbie, take care of some personal family business, wrestle with my other grandsons, Jacob, Jackson, and John, work remotely, and attend our Mosaic Conference sister church in San Francisco over Memorial Day weekend to thank Rev Joshua So for a ministry of 41 years – 34 of those years at the SF Chinese Mennonite Church. Lord willing, Debbie and I return together to Pennsylvania on June 1. As Debbie has put the travel schedule together, I have been asking myself, what is fulfilling in this season of my life? What do I truly appreciate?
Among many things, especially being a grandpa, I find myself appreciating this church and the ministry to which you have called me to fulfill. I’m grateful for this opportunity to serve, and I do not take it lightly.
To keep learning what’s next, I’ve invited y’all to a series of “Sounding Boards.” These are meeting I’ve set up to provide a space for all of us to do some listening to each other as we move forward to strengthen our core ministries and look toward the future.
Every Sounding Board will be a unique experience. No two are going to be structured the same. So, I hope you will join me on Monday, May 22, in the Welcome Center for an evening of inquiry about how we can curate worship in the future.
I’m looking forward to seeing you there.
Love you church,
Pastor Jeff
